The truth of oil
Posted: (July 27, 2008 06:36 pm)

For hundreds of years we have been burning oil thinking we will never run out and there will be no effects on earth but we were wrong. We are killing off animals, spilling oil, and running out. also we are on the edge of a climate shift. The avg. temp of earth will rise 4 degrees F before dropping 10. there is so many other thing we can use like water, Fission, Fusion, Solar, Wind and so many other so please start trying to make a difference.

I don't know but $1.69 a gallon does not sound bad to be. Where did you get your info that we are running out of oil cause that is B.S. Now the global warming thing hint Al Gore=idiot. We have done away with global warming this past year, and have cooled to levels of 100 years ago. I don't think you will here much about global warming this year or any year for a long time.

What species? Is there scientific information that's confirmed these animals have died from global warming? That's the point, no one is really even sure there is such a thing as global warming. Given the things I mentioned to you, there's actually quite a bit of information to suggest otherwise. Perhaps if a species dies out, it's part of natural selection. Maybe we've altered the world by saving species that weren't meant to survive.

But is it real?

First off, realize that man-caused carbon emissions account for only 3% of the worlds total carbon gases. As for running out of oil. It will eventually happen, that being said, we have enough shale alone in Utah to sustain the US oil consumption (20million barrels a day) for nearly 250 years. This isn't including the OCS, coastal reserves and our coal potential which is even far greater. Which animals are we killing off? The Polar Bear? Nope, they've increased their population 5 times over through the last 30 years (5k in 1975, 30k today). In 1974 Time Magazine's cover showed that our carbon use was altering the planets climate. Scientists throughout the world concurred that we were heading for another....ICE AGE! That's right, the fear just 30 years ago was that we were causing global COOLING. What people haven't reported is that the ocean temps have actually been getting COLDER over the last 5 years. Anchorage Alaska is on pace for their coldest summer on record. Anarctic Ice is increasing at a dramatic pace and ice from the North Pole has increased by 10% just this year alone. Right now, the Atlantic Temps are far below seasonal averages. Major flooding in the midwest is due to above average amounts of snowmelt due to a far colder than average winter. Now this isn't to say we aren't going to someday cause long term issues fo the planet, the things you suggest are things we need to do, but the alarmism of claiming we've severely damaged the planet after only 130 years of industrialization is far-fetched and certainly needs much more research.
