It all started on Friday, June 27th, 1:00 PM when I logged onto my computer and was updating the Omaha Weather office for the daily update. I noticed that the Storm Prediction Center had the Slight Risk for Severe Storms just South and East of the Omaha Metro area in Eastern Nebraska. I knew that could not be right as their was a Strong Jet Stream and i made my Severe Weather Outlook to Include Columbus Nebraska to Fremont Nebraska on Southward in the Severe Threat. I had only expected A few Marginal Severe Storms. Upon viewing the Radar around 1:00 PM that day, i saw some showers developing as well as a small cell moving closer to Omaha, that cell then died and the shower near Oneill Nebraska were strengthening and i thought that Omaha might see some brief period of Heavy Rain and thats it. As the line of showers approached Omaha it strengthend even more so and even a line of storms started to develop. The storm were nearing Omaha Nebraska and the warning went out for 80 MPH winds and Golf Ball Hail. I went outside to look at the sky and their was this huge roll cloud approaching us, in Boystown Nebraska. Then, the Sirens starting going off then thats when i got really worried and this could be a destructive storm. The storm came blowing through about 4:40 and almost instantly the power went out and 80-90 MPH winds surged into my neighborhood with a bit of rain. Trees and limbs were snapping and falling everywhere. Their was not very much lightning or thunder with the storm. I was video taping out the window because it was way to dangerous to be out their. I continued to video tape when the last bang of the storm blew through with near 100-110 MPH wind gust blew through my area with inches of hail pounding hail and the hardest rain i have seen all year long fall with my street flooding as well as my gudders over flowing. I rushed to my basement as i heard the last boom of the storm go through and when i searched outside to see what happened. I was amazed. I had never seen this much damage with a Thunderstorm in my life. It was still raining hard but teh wind died down as i was sitting on my porch. As the rain quit, i took a long 2 hour walk around the neighborhood and their were trees down everywhere. Huge Spruce trees up-rooted, branches everywhere, flooding in streets. near 130,000 without power. I ended up with having no power from 5:00 PM friday June 27th to June 30th 2008 1:15 PM only to have 3 hours of power then the power went out once again to technical problems, they then restored it with-in 2 hours.
