"Ignorance is Strength"
Posted: (June 14, 2008 01:38 am)

I suppose George Orwell had something going for him when he wrote about mass ignorance in his book, "1984." People are going to criticize global warming and people don't want to believe that it is happening. People fear and criticize what they don't understand. I myself didn't really believe in all of the hype until I saw the correlation between the rise in CO2 in our atmosphere and the rise in temperature and all of the "coincidences" there were because of that. I had looked at past temperature trends and noticed the heating and cooling trends over the years and figured it was a fluke that all of a sudden we are freaked out by a little rise in temperature. But after doing some research and finally bringing myself to watch Al Gore's movie, I am really changing my view on this issue. There have been heating and cooling trends throughout recorded history, yes, however none as drastic as in the last century. I know that in the '90's we suffered from major storm patterns caused by El Nino and La Nina Springs produce massive weather systems as well. But it's not about a given period of time, it's about now and what is happening now. It's about the whole picture, the whole earth, not just Midwest weather patterns. I know in my last blog I probably came off a little strong, but I am one of those people that are going to speak up. I'm tired of ignorance being strength. I'm tired of truth being inconvenient. I am ready for a change. No one has to agree with me, I don't have to agree with others' views or ideas as well, but I do agree that something needs to happen to ensure a better future for people.
