Thank You Global Warming

So lots of storms...Lots of BIG storms. Many deaths, many more injuries. We all know heat rises and in turn mixes with the colder air in the upper atmosphere to create storms. More heat = more storms. More moisture from storms = more bigger storms. I seriously think everyone needs to watch Al Gore's video, An Inconvenient Truth. Global warming is creating weather nightmares. It's not just melting ice and controversies over weather or not it's real. C'mon people! Katrina didn't come out of no where and neither are these massive super cells producing multiple tornadoes for extended periods of time. More heat, more moisture, more destruction. Truth.

Strongly Disagree

I do not think we can talk about global warming and it leading to stronger hurricanes and more tornadoes when we do not have a lot of data. Satellite is new it was not around in the early 1900's and 1800's. Storms like Katrina were probably in the ocean somewhere that could not be detected. First sucessful flight for the hurricane hunters was 1944 I believe. Since then we have accurate measurements in these powerful storms and we can watch them and track them. Before with no satellite and hurricane hunters how could we accurately track these storms. A map of 1887 hurricane and tropical storms was very active and similar to 2005. The only difference is we are working with little data in 1887. The number of reports of tornadoes are going up because we have storm chasers. The number of chasers has increased drastically over the last few decades. We have better observations and more weather stations that help us. The main point I am trying to make is...how do we know this warming, active hurricane seasons, active tornado seasons, and disasters have not happened in the past. Weather data does not go back that far and the further it goes back the more unreliable.

interesting point but.....

Most of the storms were caused by very cold air aloft for this time of the year. Colorado has its ski areas back in action and the Seattle burbs got rare snow last week. My thinking is colder air is causing this and isn't that the opposite of global WARMING ?
