Sadly, I didn't get any pictures, however...
I was with my family this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. On my way home I took I-80 to highway 59 in Southwest Iowa. I got to Oakland, Iowa and noticed to the west the clouds were becoming heavy and dark. I turned on my radio and there was a report that a severe thunderstorm was in Lincoln, NE headed East at about 50 mph with 75mph straight winds. I continued down HWY 59 and then headed West to Imogine, IA. When I turned back South on a county road to get back to HWY 2 in Iowa, the clouds were greenish and getting darker. Lightning streaked to the ground. Rain drops the size of half dollars began beating my windshield. I could see a very defined gust front heading right tward me. Just as I got past the city limit sign in Sidney, IA the wind hit my truck so hard that it felt like another vehicle had rammed into the side of my truck, I jerked my truck back across the center line. It was raining so hard that I could not see the road in front of me. Lightning hit very close to my truck and the instant it flashed I heard the thunder. I could hear hail pecking at my hood...at least I think it was hail... The wind, lightning and rain lasted for almost 45 minutes. Lightning struck the tree in my friend's back yard. After the storm died down a little I left Sidney and headed North on HWY 275 in Iowa. The storm that I drove through produced a tornado 35 miles Southeast of Sidney. It was crazy!
