In the rainfall department, Atlanta's not doing too badly. For May, we've received 2.51" so far; just a touch above average.
The GFS is not showing too many rain chances during the upcoming week (aside from rain we're receiving right now! ;-).
Perhaps a boundary might slip south over north Georgia on Thursday providing rain and thunderstorms but still several days away.
We'll probably end up close or just below average by the end of the month.
Pattern shift.....for some. The ridge in the West is replaced with a trough but instead of sliding east, it remains nearly stationary for the majority of the week...the low may actually cut off by week's end over the Desert Southwest. They'll enjoy the break from the heat for sure after today's and Monday's scorching temps.
With disturbances rotating down and around the trough, ejecting into the Plains; we may see repeating chances for severe weather in the central Plains during the latter half of the week (Thur-Sat).
Meanwhile, instead of the trough in the East being replaced by a building ridge, it remains over the Northeast and Great Lakes allowing unsettled and cool conditions to continue.
So we end up with a trough, ridge, trough pattern over the U.S. giving way to big time heat building over the South Central U.S.
