Atlanta Rainfall
SINCE JAN 1
Received 15.87
Average 19.71
Deficity -3.84
Atlanta (and north Georgia) is picking up some light to moderate rain this evening as we labor to get back to average rainfall for the year.
Our dew point was in the low 50s this afternoon so any severe storms that marched their way from Alabama to Georgia were entering a VERY stable environment. We are left with hardly a rumble of thunder and a simple rainfall.
More rain is on the horizon as we get to the latter half of the weekend but that may come as a result of some violent weather. A potent 500mb low which is currently over southern British Columbia will drop south and make its way into the mid-South by Sunday.
SPC for Day 4 has outlined the Southeast for the potential of severe weather this Sunday. They are calling for a fairly widespread severe weather event.
Should be quite interesting and with Sunday being Mother's Day, I hope people are paying attention to this storm system!
