Well, you might call me crazy, but I like winter weather as well as ocean storms. The holiday week consists of the period from Dec 25-Jan 1. I was ten when this "Holiday Week" ocurred.
Christmas Day- Christmas Day was clear. It was also pretty cold. The snow was still on the ground from the previous days system. The wind was calm for practically the whole day. I was with my grandparents in Waltham visiting my cousins. The high of the day was 30 Degrees F.
Boxing Day- The day was partly to mostly cloudy. We ate dinner that night, which consisted of KFC. I was gearing up for the next day, which consisted of traveling back to Nantucket aboard the 9:30 AM Eagle. The high on Boxing Day, was Freezing(32 Degrees F).
Dec. 27-Woke up early to get to Hyannis to meet the ferry. The sky was clear. The high was 39 Degrees. The snow still hung around. My father and I had a massive snowball fight on the front lawn of the house my grandparents were living in temporarily, as their house was undergoing repairs. The sky was a brilliant sapphire color. We had roast beef for dinner with yorkshire pudding. A bank of clouds hung over Nantucket around 7 O'clock that evening, but didn't stick around. We even built a snow man.
Dec. 28-It rained. It was a raw day, and actually the temp was far from freezing. The high was 41 Degrees. My grandmother and I went to town. It rained hard.
Dec.29- Rained again. Temp was 44 Degrees. A very miserable day.
Dec. 30- The storm that delivered more rain, was a massive snow producer on the mainland. It did end as snow, but only for an hour. The storm was a very powerful cold front at the beginning of the event, temps were at 46 Degrees, and by midnight, they were down to 17 Degrees.
New Years Eve- I was sick with the flu. The day was clear. My dad came to pick me up around 5 O'Clock that evening. The sunset was brilliant. Sometime during the night, Ocean Effect Snow developed and streamed northward over the island. The high was 24 Degrees.
New Years Day- The snow came to an end by 9 AM. This caused a new tradition between my father and I: going out to breakfast on New Years Day. The snow was of the fluffy variety, and we must have gotten about four inches. The high was 28 Degrees.
So ends my review of Holiday Week, I hope you enjoyed reading it, as I will post more.
