Selfishness causes hurricanes, fire, floods and drought
Posted: (October 10, 2008 08:06 am)

Last night I read an article in The Ithaca Journal Online.  The article was short and for the most part predictable and identical to most hysterical global warming newspaper columns that recite all the proof of global warming—hurricanes, fire, floods and drought.  If you’ve read one of these articles, you will never have to read another.  My favorite parts of these opinion columns are the comment sections, which are by far better than the original opinion columns.

At least two of the comments referenced the large population of people as the problem the world needs to solve.  Here is a quote from one of the comments: “Stabilizing, if not reducing the earth's population, would go a long (way) to making this a more livable earth.”

What I find fascinating is that neither contributor in the comment section volunteered to help save the planet from hurricanes, fire, floods and drought by eliminating himself or herself.  That would only be two less carbon footprints but it would be a gallant way of demonstrating to the world the need for self elimination as a means to save the planet from the evil consequence of too many humans.

Have you ever noticed that these people always want to do away with you and me but not them?  How selfish!  The way I see it is if you truly want to “reduce” the population, you should include yourself in the reduction process.

So, I joined theithacajournal.com and made the guys a deal that I believe is a more altruistic approach to the overpopulation problem.

To LoyalOppositionI and wjfearn: If you two agree that the population of humans is a problem for the well being of the earth I will blow my head off if you guys will do the same.  Together we can do something genuine to save the planet.  I have only one condition.  I get to wait five years after you two blow your heads off to see if it really gets warmer because it would really upset me if I blew my head off and it got cold outside.
