7:00 Hanna Update
Posted: (September 06, 2008 06:58 pm)

The rain has ended for the susquehanna valley/south central PA.  It came to an end between 5 and 6:30 depending on your location.  However there are still flood advisories in effect for Lancaster, Lebanon, and Schuylkill counties until 8 P.M as minor flooding continues for the creeks and streams from the heavy rains that fell.

The steady moderate to heavy rain is still falling in Eastern PA and New Jersey.  Lot's of flood advisories and warnings are out for Eastern PA/New Jersey, because very heavy rain has fallen in these places the past few hours.  The steady rain should quickly come to an end the next 1 to 2 hours west to east as Hanna continues to race off to the northeast. Today was a good soaker for a lot of places.  A lot of places did end up with some sort of heavy rain, but the heaviest of rain ended up in south central Pa/the Susquehanna valley as the track ended up more west than forecasted.  Tomorrow I will have a blog on the final rainfall totals.

Now the rain is wrappinig up, but we have some more of the storm to go(winds).  Yes it was a breezy afternoon, but as the rain ends, the winds will increase behind it.  The winds should come out from the northwest as the storm continues to move NE.  It will be windy this evening.  The further east you go the stronger the winds will be.  The winds should generally range from 15 to 25 MPH throughout the region, but as you near the coast the winds could range from 20 to 30 MPH.  There could be some gusts up to 35 or 40 MPH, but they could gust to 50 MPH at the coast.  The winds should die down late this evening(closer to midnight) as the storm gets NE of here.  Skies should also clear out tonight and that will lead to a much nicer Sunday.
