Hurricane Gustav made landfall in Hati yesterday with 90 mph winds, and very heavy rains. The mountainous terrain of Hati caused the circulation to be disrupted, and in turn, weakened. Gustav is now a 45 mph Tropical Storm, but as he moves between Cuba and Jamaca west through the Carribbean, there is a chance (like 90%) that he will regain Hurricane status. There is also a chance that he could become a major Hurricane before he reaches the Gulf of Mexico, so this is not the last of Gustav.
After he reaches the Gulf of Mexico, the place in line will be somewhere on the Gulf coast. People need to be taking their Hurricane precautions now if you live anywhere from Eastern Texas coast through the Florida Panhandal. This storm could become a monster.
