A letter from my friend on Marco Island, Fla
Posted: (August 19, 2008 07:56 pm)

Hi Rita: Okay, real quickly I'll give you all an update on the tropical storm/hurricane fay. First of all, i have no idea how my power is still working, because transformers have blown all over the island, and my lights and cable dont work. Yet my a/c,internet and clocks, all still work! It's been blowing here at 60-70 mph with gusts a little higher than that, for over 3 hours now. It's absolutly insane!!  (and awesome at the same time)
We are all good, the house is fine and from what i can see the landscaping and so forth is alll fine too. The sad part is that at some point Sweepea got out of our protection and is outside some where :( . Hope he's all right, the backyards underwater.
Our street is completely under water as well.
But that's the quick update, and don't worry, we are all safe.
Talk soon!
Nancy

UPDATE****

A quick Update!
Fay has started to stall a little, and make an easterly path, unlike the western cone the forcast has given it all week.
It looks like Tropical Storm Fay will not become a hurricane, but will make landfall some where between Naples, Marco (us) and south of us, some where between 2 and 4am. The winds are expected to be between 40 and 65 mph, which isn't enough to cause structural damage.
We'll have a stormy night and morning, but by 1-2pm Tuesday, I should be looking at a sunny end to my birthday!
Well, that's the update!
