Fay's Track
Posted: (August 16, 2008 10:12 am)

Good Morning.

My thinking on the track of Fay:

I think she crosses Cuba and reemeges in the Florida Straights.  Fay makes land fall near the southern tip of Florida then heads up along the coast of Florida destined for the Carolias.

Those are my thoughts

No Thanks!

I'm in Ocean City for my family vacation 8/23-8/30. A hit on New Jersey ruins my vacation. I want this thing to completely miss us. Right now it seems there are a gazillion different opinions on where it will go and when. But one thing's for sure -- if it does impact us up here, it will be during my vacation. So I'm praying right now.

I want

it to come up the coast and nail New Jersey as a Cat 1/strong tropical storm. Nothing too fierce, but enjoyable to ride out.

How Much Open Water?
Posted: (August 16, 2008 10:32 am)

The key is how long this thing stays over water. Looking at the latest runs of the models (at Wunderground), they've shifted east but most models have the system cutting through Florida, not hugging the coast or sitting over open water for long stretches. If it takes that type of path, I assume it won't be hitting Carolina with much force. But after Carolina, what happens? Could it push out to the coast and come up north with hurricane status? Hopefully not. Please let this thing go inland and fall apart over a large land mass!
