A cold front is slowly pushing through the area tonight, and is now located south of Kansas City, and has sparked a large swath of showers and thunderstorms Northeast of St. Louis, Southwest close to Springfield. It is very diceiving as temperatures have dropped off into the 80's late in the afternoon, but the dewpoints are rising into the upper 70's! This rise in humidity may make it hard to feel the drop in temperature for some people, and usually, the dewpoint drops after the passage of a cold front.
Here was the front's location at 7:00 AM this morning:

As you can the front is not marked as a normal cold front, it is marked as a stationary front. This is because technically it is a stationary front because it is moving so slowly.
The weather pattern is going through a big change. The upper level high that created this Moderate, but brief heatwave is going to weaken considerably tomorrow through tomorrow night, and will likely retreat back to the most likely spot over the SW region. The remnants of Tropical Storm Edouard wil drift through Texas andwill not impact our region as we will be be experiencing a flow from Canada. As this happens, the front will ikely stall just South of Kansas City, and will be a focusing area for complexes of showers and thunderstorms to form.
Here is the NAM forecast tha was issued this morning. Note** This Model has been updated:

As you can see, there was a 9+ inch bullseye in NE Kansas. The next model run did not have this, but you have to look at the model, and come up with your own idea as the models will keep changing. The potential is there for very excessive rainfall in some areas, but it wil be hard to pinpoint where the heaviest rain will fall a of now, but we will know more tomorrow.
Here is the forecast:
There is a slight chance of showers/thunderstorms tonight throught most of the day tomorrow. Rain chances will increase dramatically as we head into Wednesday night. There is a 100 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night, some of which wil be heavy around the area. Excessive rainfall, and flooding will be likely in some areas.
I will have a new blog tomorrow,
