Tornado Close-up Filmed with Probe
There have been many "close-up" tornado videos but don't you wish they could get a bit closer? A scientist named Tim Samaras invented a special tornado "probe" that's made of a dome with seven cameras built into it. The dome is built so that it doesn't get sucked into the tornado; rather, the wind "wraps" around it. So it stays stable and secure, and you get front-row seats to a tornado show. This tornado is filmed with one of those probes, and unlike anything else anyone has ever seen, this is the closest anyone has ever come near a tornado. It's just too bad the calculation of the tornado's path was a bit off, and the camera didn't end up filming inside the tornado. Still, it is an amazing sight.
