Windy Thunderstorm Produces Microburst
Footage of an extremely windy thunderstorm in the woods near Kenora, Canada. A microburst in the storm produced winds of over 150kmh--comparable to the winds of a strong hurricane--which devastated a mature evergreen forest. The strong winds were initially thought to have come from a tornado; fortunately nothing that destructive was present. Assessing the damage caused afterwards confirmed that it was straight-line winds. Microbursts are one of the reasons you shouldn't underestimate below-hurricane-level storms. In a flash, they can become just as strong or even stronger! And a pine forest definitely isn't the best place to be when these happen.
