Man Filming Too Close to Lightning Strike
This clip was from a storm in Brick, New Jersey. The guy filming this clip was just trying to capture some lightning on camera. However most of the strikes were from far away. He wished it would strike somewhere closer...and he got his wish. The lightning struck the power pole a few feet in front of him, sending sparks flying, cutting off the power and giving the filmer the shock of his life. The lightning was so close he felt the static in the air and his hairs started to stand, like in the movies. The video starts somewhat slow and drags on, but near the end you can see the blinding lightning flash and what it did to the power pole. Filming during a thunderstorm is extremely dangerous and should only be left to the professionals. You can always observe lightning from the safety of your own house, however.
