Hurricane Rita

Beginning from a calm, serene dusk, then moving on to the flashes of lightning that signal the arrival of the storm, the video documents some of the more fearsome moments of Hurricane Rita, the 4th most intense Atlantic hurricane ever recorded. Causing over 113 fatalities and $11.94 billion in damages, Rita had maximum sustained winds of 177mph, and affected eight areas--Bahamas, Florida, Cuba, Yucatán Peninsula, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Arkansas. The severity of the impact was not as high as expected, fortunately, but damage was still extensive. Much of the damage is attributed to the storm surge that followed. Be prepared for bad weather.
