Hurricane Elena
This video is just a small preview of Hurricane Elena's fury. The first major hurricane of the 1985 Atlantic hurricane season, Elena caused very heavy damage along the Gulf Coast of the United States in August and September. It destroyed homes and causeways with a 9-foot tidal wave. It reached a Category 3 rating when it made landfall in Biloxi and quickly dissipated. Before that, it killed 4 people and caused $2.4 billion in damages with its 125 mph winds and gigantic storm surges. It also moved unpredictably, which prompted a massive evacuation just to be safe, and because of this the death toll was extremely low.
