DAKOTAS ON THE WATCH FOR TORNADOES TONIGHT

The Storms Prediction Center has posted a TORNADO WATCH for South Dakota and Severe Thunderstorm watches for North Dakota and areas south into Kansas and Nebraska.  Severe weather and tornadoes are very dangerous at night because many times they come with little or no warning.

This is partially due to not visially seeing those tornadoes on the plains at night. Expect LARGE HAIL, DAMAGING WINDS AND TORNADOES.  The SPC has placed this area under a MODERATE RISK for tornadoes tonight, and looking at super doppler I think we'll see a few tornadoes.   Aberdeen and Huron SD have to be on a very careful lookout after 8pm local time.

So far today we have seen 4 reports of tornadoes in Colorado and 250 reports of severe weather overall.  Most of the severe weather focus will shift further east tomorrow and by the East Coast over the weekend.
