A Cold Front on the Way for the Rockies
Posted: (October 01, 2008 11:04 am)

Plenty of sunshine for the Cowboy State today as we wind down our unofficial close to summer. Temperatures today will jump back up into the 70s with a slight chance of a thunderstorm west of the Continental Divide. The possibility does linger until midnight with lows in the 40s. Lots of sunshine and warm temperatures through the remainder of the work week. Clouds roll in for the first part of the Saturday ahead of the rainfall to finish the extended forecast.

The nice and sunny weather in Denver will stay through Friday before a cold front moves into Colorado for the weekend, bringing cooler weather and better chances for moisture. Denver will see mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 80s through Friday. Thursday will bring some afternoon clouds and steady winds out of the north, but nothing to serious. This coming weekend begins with mid 70s on Saturday, partly cloudy skies and a 20 percent chance of afternoon storms. Sunday will be even cooler with highs in the upper 60s, mostly cloudy skies and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Next week is expected to start with partly cloudy skies and highs around 70 on Monday. You  are heading into what typically is prime time for viewing fall foliage in the state. Late September into early October is usually the best time to see Colorado Gold in the high country

You will enjoy another sunny day today in the Southwest. The forecast high is 101 degrees.Warm and dry weather is expected through the end of the week but a change is coming your way.A strong low pressure system moving through Rockies this weekend will bring cooler weather and breezy conditions along with a chance of rain, mainly in the mountains north and east of phoenix. Temperatures will remain below average next week with a return to dry conditions as the storm system moves well east of the region.
