I am starting to look at some factors going into the winter of 2008-2009. I will tell you from a stats standpoint it's rare to go 3 winters in a row well below normal for snowfall. It can happen but the odds are against it. If you want to tell us your prediction for this winter comment below. The closing date will be November 17th. This is just for bragging rights when we check back later in the season.

I say that we will have average to slightly below temps throughout the winter season with one or 2 days reaching 70's. I am going out on a limb and say first Snowfall will be end of Nov. maybe Thanksgiving weekend, nothing major but a inch or two. Dec. will bring some snow maybe totaling 5" for the month. Jan. will have couple snow events totaling 10". The first week in Feb, we will have a good old fashion Blizzard with a 24+" with a couple other snow/sleet events. March will be Nasty the first half with a MAJOR ICE STORM! To Recap for the winter: Dec.22 to March 21st Total Snowfall: 45" Coldest Nighttime Temp: -6F Coldest Daytime Temp: 8F Warmest Temp: 72F

I think it is going to be a snowy winter. I think we are going to have 25 to 30 inch of snow this winter. I think we are going to have one 10 inchs or more snow storm. August and september have been cool. The beginning of October is going to be 2 to 3 degrees cooler.

It will be Colder than last Winter, I'll go out on a limb though and say below normal Temps, with near average Snow fall. I hope I'm wrong and we get snow on top of snow, but around here that happens every 25 years, with that said this might be the year, hey what do I know, but as of now I'm saying, just because it may be a cold winter does not guarantee a snowy winter! "Let it Snow Baby", February will get the lions share of Snow...
Unused Snowblower......

Well, maybe i'll be able to actually USE my 3 year old - still brand new - snowblower this year.. I'm tired of just seeing it sit there in the garage, waiting for a measureable amount of flakage! We all have to pray to the Patron Saint of Snow... St Bernard!.. I'm looking for > 40" this winter! Don't let me down, Snow Gods...
Great Time

Three storms
Posted: (September 30, 2008 08:32 pm)
I am hoping for three four inch ,or more snow storms .This is the only time of year that I have a chance for overtime. My prediction is for 17 inches of snow. The one and two inch storms that we had the last three years was very cruel to the snow lover . I agree with you Rob this could be a break out winter . [cru-el ] disposed to inflict pain !
i hope...
