While I have been posting all month on the threat of below normal, active periods of weather for the Northern Plains, I could not have been more wrong in thinking that major snowfall threats were over! In fact, another major upper-level low will be forced south underneath a pretty big blocking scenario. This will threaten areas from Colorado to Northern Minnesota and points north and west with a measurable snowfall to start the month of May. This system should come far enough north to give reprieve to chilly weather farther east, but in the Northern Plains expect the train of systems reinforcing below normal temperatures to continue, at least through the first week of May.
