More Thunderstorms Possible
Posted: (May 10, 2008 02:00 pm)

From Billings to Salt Lake City most of the mountain region will be rather cool and wet.

As a storm track will continue to march through the Northwest with rounds of showers and thunderstorms. In fact, there is a possibilty of mountain snow as far south as the Great Basin through Monday.

However, in the southwest it will ramin mainly warm, hot, dry, and windy. Forcing a fire danger concern for Arizona and New Mexico. A *Red Flag Alert* is in effect until 8 pm for Northern, Central and Southeastern New Mexico.

The combination of winds 20-30 mph and low humidity values in the teens will create the potential for rapid fire growth.

The strong winds are being generated from a cold front that pushed through the region last night, as the cold front heading into the Southern Plains throughout the day wind speeds will slowy lessen in the Southwest.

This same cold front could provide plenty on instability for the Plains to have another outbreak of severe weather.

By midweek a ridge of high pressure will build and create a nice warm up from Boise to Albuquerque.
