Look and see what could've been....

Talking to Chris yesterday about this sounding, he said I should post it, so here goes......This is quite possibly the highest valued CAPE sounding i've ever seen, along with a few other parameters.  Even case study

KIAD = Regan International

MU CAPE = 6970    if you do the calculation UVV = SQRT(2*CAPE) that equals an upward vertical velocity of 118 m/s!! TEI = 47?  Another unreal parameter. Lapse rates are good, however with lack of shear, this thing would've became massive really fast, and prob would've died from its downdraft.  Would've been interesting to see, however, no triggering mechanisms were in this area.

good find Greg ! 6970 CAPE is something I have never seen either. Yeah I agree sometimes parameters don't tell the whole story.

Classic Cases & SARS
Posted: (June 11, 2008 07:57 am)

I knew I saw these cases before. If you click on the link, slides 14 and 15 have high parameter f4 and f5 tornado cases, however, these are just parameters and dont tell the whole story. Regardless, it's still something to look at. Go through this PPT and you'll actually learn about the SARS system too!! http://www.nwas.org/meetings/nwa2006/SevereII/jewell/SARS.ppt#291,14,Slide 14
