Extremely Hot and Stroms Possible for the Rockies and the Plains
Posted: (July 05, 2008 12:12 pm)

A strong trough with a lot of energy will move into western Montana late in the day. Strong thunderstorms will develop with the potential of some storms becoming severe by the evening. There could be gusty winds, large hail, frequent lightning and heavy downpours with some of these storms.

Overnight, the severe storms will move through north central Montana. Lows will be around 60.

Sunday, a weak cold front will bring slightly cooler temperatures, highs in the 80's to near 90. An isolated thunderstorm is possible.

Monday, another nice day, mostly sunny with a slight chance of an afternoon storm, highs in the 80's.

Toward the middle of next week, another heat wave will build across the west and the fire danger could become critical.

An absolute scorcher of an Independence Day for the folks in Wyoming,  is now being cooled off by some late-day clouds, and also a few showers in the higher elevations. You won't be quite as warm tomorrow, but some places will still hit the 90s, and there's the chance for a late day shower/storm. Sunday brings a better chance for storms with partly sunny skies, and temperatures cooling off into the mid 80s.

With the exception of an isolated shower or storm later in the day on Monday, the rest of the week looks to be sunny and dry. Highs on Monday will be comfortable in the low 80s. Things heat up toward the end of next week, however, with highs on Thursday and Friday back in the 90s.

Idaho residents, enjoy this quick break from the heat as temperatures continue to climb through next week.  Thanks to a cold front moving though the area, the afternoon highs should only reach 90 degrees.  Sunday will be a touch warmer and Monday, things get plain hot again.  Expect mostly sunny skies through the five day period with the only threat of thunderstorms being in the mountains.

After a very steamy 4th of July, the 5th looks to compete as temperatures once again climb into the upper 90s for Saturday for most of Utah and Colorado
A ridge of high pressure has built in across most of the west, bringing much warmer than average temperatures across most of the area. A cold front will make its way across Denver over the next 24 hours, however, dropping highs back to near average upper 80s to near 90 for Sunday and Monday.
While there is a slight chance of thunderstorms Saturday afternoon, we will see a better chance Sunday afternoon as the cold front brings more instability to the atmosphere. Overall, I am expecting a very typical summer conclusion to your long weekend.

High pressure is centered over the four corners area and plenty of moisture is coming up from the southwill have a major impact on Arizona and New Mexico

The humidity will be high, so it's going to feel a bit muggy with highs around 105 degrees both Saturday and Sunday.

The chance of rain showers will diminish starting during the next work week, but temperatures will start to increase.

You will see our highs back to 112 degrees by next Thursday.
