Recycling paper is one sure way to do your part. But there’s an easy way to go one step further; buy products that are made with recycled paper.
There are a number of brands that offer 100% recycled paper in their tissue, toilet paper, paper towels and napkins. But this can be misleading. What you really need to look at is the amount of post consumer content in each product. This is how the amount of recycled paper created from waste we kept out of the landfill. The rest of the 'recycled' paper is made up of waste created at the paper mill.
If we really want to do our part to save trees and conserve energy it’s important for us to seek out recycled paper products with the highest percentage of post consumer content.
The Natural Resource Defense Council has created a Shopper's Guide to Home Tissue Products
'Do You Part' to lead a more sustainable life. At home, work, play, school and on the road there are easy decisions made everyday that can lead to a healthier planet.
