TROPICS WIND DOWN. HOW MANY MORE STORMS ?
Posted: (October 04, 2008 12:16 pm)

The tropics have become quiet the past week or so and we only have one area to watch.  It is Southeast of Cancun/Cozumel today.  It is drifting westward so I do not expect nothing more than showers and squalls for Belize and the Eastern Coast of Mexico from Belize City to Cancun.  The Cape Verde Season is just about over so expect future storms to develop in the Carribean, Gulf and areas close to the coastal Atlantic Ocean.

The next storm will be the "m" letter and it will be called Marco.  Laura was in the Northern Atlantic and it was a sub-troipcal system

So far this season:

12 named storms
Worst U.S. Storm: IKE, CAT 2, winds 100-105mph. Damage 15-20 billion

The thinking is 1-2 more tropical systems in October, one a tropical storm and one a CAT 1-2 hurricane.
